Face Claim Aqua (Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep)
Name- Kaitlyn Vandera
Gender- Female
Age- 18
DOB- December 9th
Species- Human
Appearance-
Kait stands fairly tall at five foot seven inches, and weighing in at about 131 lbs. Her body is lean, lightly toned and her legs are fairly long, and overall is built for strength and agility. Her skin is a light rosy tan color.
Her hair is about chin length at the front and sides, and falls just to her shoulders at the back and is a mix of streaks of black and white. Her eyes are dark red and far set, with dark thick lashes and thin black eyebrows. Her nose is fairly straight with only a slight curve on the bridge with thin nostrils and a pointed tip.
She wears a black and red halter top with white belts crossing over her chest, with a silver amulet attached to where the belts intersect. She wears white bell sleeves with black, red and white decorative armor attached to the top of them.
She wears tight black shorts and black stockings, as well as two strips of red cloth draped over each side of her hips, and a strip of white cloth tied around her waist and draped in the same manner. She also wheres black and silver armored boots.
Personality-
Kait on the surface, is a shy, but earnest young woman who would rather keep to herself than interact with others. However, there are a lot of things about her that isn't always entirely obvious, and lots of things affected by her less than pleasant childhood.
The one thing about her that has had a major impact on her life, is her ability to use the powers of aura. With these powers she is able to sense the auras of those around her, project her own aura as a shield or attack, activate time flowers and use telepathy.
However, since her village was isolated and never known about Aura Guardians, they ostracized Kait, thinking she was some form of witch. She was treated more like a slave than a child, and they took every chance they got to remind her that she was a horrible little witch girl.
This treatment took it's toll on Kait's self esteem, and she grew to hate herself and her powers, always wishing she never had them in the first place and that she wasn't a witch. She also grew to hate her own family and villagers, jealous of them for not having to live with this curse and for how they treated her. Fortunately since she ran away, she hasn't had much need to think about them, though her low self esteem still plagues her.
Her greatest fear is people finding out about her aura powers. It took a lot of courage for her to escape from the village, and live out in a world that didn't know who she was. If anyone found out, she'd have to escape from there and find another place that didn't know what she was, and it was never a guarantee that people who knew wouldn't pass the information onto others.
That said, she avoids using her aura powers at all costs, both to prevent others from finding out about them, as well as in failed effort to make her forget about them herself. Even in life and death situations she is very hesitant about using them, and it can take a lot to force her to use them, even to protect herself.
She enjoys peace and quiet, relaxing in quiet fields and watching the stars and clouds go by. Its only when she is alone, away from other people that she is able to really feel calm and serene, when she can forget about being a some sort of witch.
She also enjoys music, and finds it helps her ignore her own problems. She is also skilled at playing the ocarina, and enjoys playing it, though she gets embarrassed when others hear her playing it. She also practices Tai Chi, more as an exercise than for actual combat use.
Kait adores pokemon, and they were often a mental escape for her from the treatment she got from the villagers. Of course, it was only wild pokemon that treated her as any sort of friend. The pokemon belonging to the villagers were all too loyal to think of her any differently than their trainers.
She also enjoys exploring new places and meeting new pokemon, and with her journey she hopes to explore all kinds of places and befriend all kinds of pokemon.
She has a very strong dislike for spicy food, and if she does put any in her mouth, she will spit it out immediately, and proceed to down as much cold water as she can drink. She also doesn't like it when people have high expectations of her, and she often falls short of them as a result.
When Kait has a specific task to do, she tends to focus on it, often ignoring other things that may or may not be more important. She is also a very independent person, preferring to work alone, and working most effectively when she is so.
Kait also thinks very logically, and theoretically that is a positive, as she doesn't let sentimentalities and other unnecessary thoughts or attachments get in the way of making the best choice. On the flip side though, this can also make her seem emotionless and very insensitive, which isn't at all appropriate in some situations.
With her positive interactions with people being extremely limited for the first fifteen years of her life, she has difficulty with the concept of friendship, making friends, keeping them, and trusting them. She clings to whatever friends she can make, and is always afraid of messing up and losing friends.
History-
Kait was born in a small isolated village on an island west of the Johto region. The villagers maintained their home independently of the surrounding regions, and for the most part kept to themselves, and were mistrusting of strangers, who were usually sent away immediately.
For the first year or so, Kait was raised by her parents, who loved her like any parent would love their child, until something became clear to them -- Kait was no ordinary child. Off and on she'd glow, and release energy at random, sometimes harmless, sometimes destructive.
Nothing like this had ever been heard of before in the village. Of course in any of the surrounding villages, the signs were obvious -- she was exhibiting the powers of an Aura Guardian. However, this village had never in all its history come in contact with an Aura Guardian, and they were afraid of this power, afraid enough to label her as a witch and ostracize her from normal society.
Upon finding about their child, Kait's parents wanted absolutely nothing to do with her, and abandoned her on the spot. The village leaders could hardly just let a witch child roam around free to terrorize the town. So they took it upon themselves to select a new family for her. She was soon brought to Garret Cro, a strict, grumpy old man, who would be her father figure for the next fourteen years.
As Kait grew up, Garret, and the rest of the villagers showed nothing but hostility and hate for her. Garret raised her more as a slave than a daughter, and no one in the village hesitated to let her know that she was a witch, a worthless waste of air, and many other devastating things that no child should ever have to experience.
Of course, this made Kait a very miserable girl, scared of her own shadow. When given an order she'd scramble to obey, knowing she'd be beaten if she didn't satisfy her 'father' or other villagers that demanded something of her.
She wanted nothing more than to escape her enslavement, live on her own away from this tormented life. Escape was impossible though. The village was on an island, surrounded by water. All she could do was flee into the surrounding forests. Here she could be around wild pokemon who didn't seem to either know or care that she was a witch. They were the only creatures on this island that didn't spit at the sight of her.
Her visits into the forest were never long however. The villagers would always find her, drag her back to her home, to be punished for disobedience. For this reason she rarely tried to run into the forest unless her life in the village had pushed her to a breaking point. It was rare, and the punishments were always brutal, but sometimes it was worth it, just to have time away from it all.
Garret also had a son, and middle aged man by the name of Anthony. Anthony had rarely paid much attention to Kait, believing like the rest of the village that the girl was a witch, a threat to the village to be kept in shackles. As he watched her grow older and older though, he unlike the rest, began having second thoughts about just how dangerous she was.
The next time she ran into the forest, he followed right after. Keeping out of sight until they were well out of earshot of the village. This was where he revealed himself. As was predictable, she immediately made a run for it, and he ended up chasing after her. He didn't dare call after her, incase they ended up running close to the village. After a lengthy run through the forest though, Anthony's stamina held out much longer than Kait's had, and he succeeded in catching her.
He told her he didn't want to hurt her, he tried to explain his thoughts on her situation and that he wanted to reach out to her. However, it wasn't going to be easy. Kait was highly suspicious of him, thinking that Anthony was trying to pull a trick on her. Neither one of them had time to talk it through though as villagers were on the approach. Anthony, though apologetically, had to feint capturing her, and they ended up returning to the village with the search party.
It wasn't the only time they met like this though. Kait made more and more frequent treks into the forest, and Anthony continued on following her, offering friendship the girl had never known for all her life. Unfortunately it all had to be kept secret -- Anthony would be in just as much trouble if the villagers ever found out that he was not only allowing her to run off, but showing sympathy for the witch as well.
These visits took their toll, but they soon grew closer and closer, and Kait began to view Anthony more as her father than Garret. Nothing good ever lasts however, and Anthony was growing increasingly worried about being found out. Kait was fifteen now, and he made a very difficult decision. That night, he was going to help Kait escape the island.
Kait and Anthony went out to the forest like they normally did, but this time, Anthony had packed a large bag of supplies for Kait. Anthony took her the west side of the island, and this was where he told her of the plan, giving her the bag of supplies, as well as his Ruby Milotic, Faith. On Milotic she would escape the island and travel to the region of Torento. When he returned to the village, he had a carefully woven story about chasing her to the cliff, where she had jumped off off, hitting numerous outcropped rocks on her way down and getting knocked out, before falling into the ocean, and being sucked down into it's depths.
As hesitant as she was to leave, Anthony refused to give her an option, forcing her onto Milotic and giving his pokemon one final order to take her to Torento and protect her. Anthony had wanted to go with her, but he couldn't. If he did, the villagers would know he helped her escape, and they would chase after them. They needed to believe that Kait was dead so they wouldn't go after her.
It was a very long trip to Torento, but thanks to Faith, they had made it there with few problems. For 3 years after that, they lived along the coasts of Torrento, feeding on the fish Faith would hunt for her. It was a lonely life, but Kait was now free, and on Faith's urging, she was no on her way to the Insei Lab, where she would get her starter pokemon, and she'd begin a journey with pokemon.

"VIRIDIAN CITY!
I'm on the road to become the greatest trainer!
I won't quit until I'm number one!
We keep on trying. Then we try some more.
To stay together, and find the place we're fighting for!
Oh, I'm on the road! Viridian City."
For such a brat, she sure looked cute singing the Viridian City song, with her Shori Vitani bouncing on her paws gleefully. Sure, they were heading to Marble City, not Viridian City, but other that the song was perfect for her. She was going to be the greatest trainer. She'd never give up and she would fight for her place. She was definitely on the road to somewhere.
Only just out of the Aryll lab, and Erin already had two prize pokemon. Two pokemon that would lead her to victory in future battles. One Shori and one Sizenal. Both would be excellent fighters, and even if they somehow managed to fail, she herself could still step in and she could pummel any pokemon with her own strength.
<Delivery!>
Erin stopped in her tracks at the call, and looked to the sky where a Delibird was swooping down upon her, and she suddenly had a look of joy and impatience appeared on her face. Vitani backed up a bit nervously as the Delibird headed towards them. <Do you know this pokemon?> She asked curiously.
"Its Papa's Delibird of course!" Erin responded to her pokemon's question. "Its about time he sent me something." She added grumpily. But now the Delibird was here. Now what would she get? Her Gallynx better be in that bag. She wanted her, it was rightfully hers, she had grown up with it. Maybe a Charizard too, and a Raichu. A whole lot of rare candies too. That better be what was in there.
Finally the Delibird landed on the ground and began reaching into his bag while Erin held out her hand expectantly. The bird pulled from his bag only a few items. Two pokeballs, a Dragon Fang and a thick wad of money. Erin snatched the items up quickly, pocketing the money and fang. She then called out the two pokemon, which turned out to be an Angel Dratini and a Shiny Milotic.
For a moment there was only silence. It wasn't a good silence either. You know the silence where you feel something bad is about to happen? That kind of silence. Erin looked from the Dratini, to the Milotic, to Delibird and back, over and over again, until finally she just couldn't contain herself anymore. "THAT'S IT?" She yelled, making all four pokemon around her jump. "You better have something better for me next time or you are going to know it!" She aimed a kick at the Delibird, but the pokemon jumped back before taking off again.
She turned back to the Dratini and Milotic, both of which looked a little disappointed by their trainer's behavior. "May not be the all of what I expected, but you two are still excellent pokemon." Erin pondered as she examined the two. Both pokemon looked a little better, realizing that they had not been rejected themselves. "Milotic's name shall be Viesha, and Dratini your name shall be Dynasty." Erin announced. She then gave the Dratini the Dragon Fang she had recieved, then returned both of them.
Now they were already stopped, she decided now was as good as any time to do some training before she pushed on. So she took out Ryushi's pokeball and called out the Sizenal. The water salamander appeared in a flash of red light. "Okay Ryushi, its time to do some training so you can help win me some battles!" She announced.
Ryushi though, ducked his head, clearly not thrilled about the idea. <But… I don't like fighting… To protect you yeah I could, but I don't like battling for fun.> He explained nervously.
Erin blinked, she looked like she might explode for a second, but seemed to hold off. "You'll always be protecting me! You'll be protecting my reputation as number one trainer!" said the pokemorph in a matter-of-fact tone. "You can't let me suffer the pain of losing. Thats for losers to feel, and we're not losers!"
Vitani cheered approval at this, but Ryushi took a moment to consider. <When you put it that way…> He mumbled, before he finally nodded. <Alright, I'll battle for you.> The Sizenal finally agreed.
Erin smiled, patting the salamander's head in approval. "That's what I wanna hear! Now I wanna train with you! Now use tackle on me!" She ordered. Ryushi hesitated for a second, having not expected to be asked to attack Erin herself, but he obeyed, jumping forward, throwing his weight onto his attack, successfully hitting her, sending them both to the ground.
Erin grinned. "Good job, but you need to do better than that!" said the Togekiss morph, knocking Ryushi off her with surprising strength for such a small cute little girl. She then used ExtremeSpeed, rushing at the Sizenal to bowl him over into the ground. She then jumped away to prepare for Ryushi's next attack.
The Sizenal went at her again, but this time his head was glowing purple. He struck Erin with the Zen Headbutt attack, sending the morph stumbling back, and landing on her butt. She retaliated by sending an Ominous Wind attack attack at the Sizenal, but Ryushi dodged the attack and went in for another tackle attack.
They continued their training battle for a while with Vitani watching patiently. They were pretty evenly matched, but it soon became clear that Ryushi was kicking her butt. Ryushi tackled her once more, pinning her to the ground, but Erin was too exhausted to fight back at this point. <I win?> The Sizenal inquired.
For a second Erin glared at Ryushi and yelled. "NO FAIR!" causing the Sizenal to jump back in surprise and fear. However, her expression changed almost instantly to sheer joy. "You are too awesome!" said Erin, giving the Sizenal a hug. She then hit the ground again. "Nap time…" She muttered, and fell asleep right on the spot.
Vitani and Ryushi blinked as Erin fell asleep, but shrugged and curled up next to her. Ryushi fell asleep almost instantly, but Vitani stayed awake, keeping watch for anything that might sneak up on them while the others were resting.
